Beauty and the Beast Stage Show on Tour

The Broadway stage show production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast hits the road for a national tour starting in Syracuse, NY on September 23. Over the two months, Belle and her Beast will woo cities throughout the United States, including San Antonio and Austin, TX (a combined 17 shows), Colorado Springs, Seattle, Bakersfield, CA, Phoenix and Fresno, CA.

The tour is a celebration of the Broadway stage show’s 20th anniversary, and it’s appropriately spectacular. Since its licensing, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast has played in more than 6,000 individual theaters, and touring companies have brought it to life on stages in 22 countries. More than 35 million people have hummed along with the songs which were scored by Alan Mencken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice. The Broadway show was nominated for nine Tony awards and played for 13 years on Broadway. All in all, it is one of Disney’s most successful live theater shows – and now you can see it live again, recreated by the original creative team brought back together for the 20th anniversary tour. And yes, you can get tickets to all the shows in all the cities starting with Beauty and the Beast NY, on sale next Thursday, 8/19 at 10 a.m.

The Creative Team

Director Rob Roth says, “The play is about seeing past the exterior and into the heart of someone, and this is reflected in the design of the show, which is about transparency and layers, seeing past one thing and into another.” The rest of the team includes choreographer Matt West, lighting designer Natasha Katz, set designer Stanley A. Meyer, sound designer John Petrafesa Jr., Music supervisor Michael Kosarin, and reprising the role that won her a Tony for costume design, Ann Hould-Ward.
